The major vibe I’d like to accomplish is if Kevin Plank was going to build a veterinary Hospital. I think he’s got a great feel for the history of Baltimore and you only have to look at his redevelopment of the Pendry in Fells Point and Rye Street Tavern in Port Covington to see what I’m taking about:
Now of course Kevin Plank is a billionaire and we’ve talked before how expensive it is to make things that “look” industrial and stripped down. Hopefully I’ll be able to slowly add to this look as the business grows but I’d like to have a good foundation to build on.
Things like the floors and ceiling will be crucial to this. Since we have the drop ceiling I wasn’t sure what these things cost at least in the waiting room.Similar to what I hope to accomplish with those bay doors like chipotle:
I’m sure it’s ambitious and maybe confusing to build a hospital that looks like a a restaurant but that really is the vibe I want for the owners and more specifically the pets that this will be a safe and welcoming environment aside from the areas that NEED to look like a hospital like the treatment area. In truth, I would really love it if there was an almost Wizard of Oz like moment when you step on the other side of the exam room doors into the treatment area from the “home” world into the “hospital” world.
I think the floors could be a good opportunity to brand a unique identity that “fans” of the hospital will grow to enjoy similar to the almost legendary status of the carpet at Portland International airport:
I think any sort of weird geometric vibe we can get with that vinyl tile would be cool even if it’s just black and white like in that one Pendry photo,
Additional vibes:
Last but not least the best mood I can send is the one I hoped to preserve from the very beginning
